Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Hark the Herald Angels Sing                                                        Ruth Ann Hendrix

This song is my favorite Christmas song. It is one that we learned as children for the Christmas program. I would get so nervous saying my spoken part alone, but the hymns we would learn and sing together. The melody is as beautiful as the words. A line I especially hold dear is, “God and sinners reconciled.”

I think about Jesus laying in the manger, then the angels suddenly appearing and singing glory to God. I also ponder the reactions of the shepherds, Mary and Joseph, anyone else that was around to hear and

see… How blessed we are.

The song is based on Luke chapter two, verses 13 and 14- Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!”
